Thank you for continuing to feed my 'weakness'
ReplyDeletefor British music.
I must confess I've yet so hear any of Constant
Lambert's work so I'm looking forward to this.
Novak.
Hello Novak. More Constant Lambert (very nice) just uploaded on the main blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks again - I'm looking forward to hearing this - Jerry
ReplyDeleteI have been a huge Lambert fan every listening to a chandos release of his score for the documentary "Merchant Seamen"..thanks!
ReplyDeleteI can highly recommend the Lyrita (now on CD) of his ballet 'Romeo & Juliet' - ECO/del Mar (coupled with 'Pomona').
ReplyDeleteI have been meaning to get this ballet, I neglected to mention a Hyperion release I have of Summer's Last Will And Testament...it's a bit too intense for me I think, but what a riveting work. Also includes The Rio Grande which you have covered, and Aubade Heroique : ).
ReplyDeleteThe amount of Lambert issued during the LP-era was minimal - though do have Robert Irving's LSO 'Horoscope' - but only as the original 1953 Decca LXT (not too keen to spend time on that one) also Irving's LSO 'Patineurs'.
ReplyDeleteIrving's New SO Gretry arrangement is, however, on the main blog..
R.R.Bennett's performance of the Piano Concerto on Polydor is now available on CD: thus not too much more I can offer - except for some of his conducting (Shellackophile blog also has some 78 material)
Very interesting music, distinct and imaginative. Thank you very much for these rarities!
