Having just checked, it appears the 1988 version had been additionally 'de-clicked'/noise-reduced - leading to a loss of dynamics (though these 1975 transfers have a 'gritty' background - but now miss the extended range I can get from my [noisy] 78 dubs: had 2 sets of Rio Grande - think the laminate version got broke!).
