  1. Many many thanks for this gorgeous and detailed transfer (and the copious scans)!

    1. Was concerned I'd 'brightened' the sound a little too much (retain the prior version): side 2 is anyway better-sounding (and Menuhin doesn't seem to do justice to the second movement).

Scanning those pasted-in album notes is rather problematic...

  3. This exact LP was my first ever recording of Elgar's Violin Concerto. Bought in London by my father. I must have been 10, no more. So I thank you most wholeheartedly for making it available in brilliant sound. I have bought CD's of all sorts trying to reproduce what I had heard when I was so young and which accompanied me back to Buenos Aires. This finally has fulfilled my wish!! Scans are fantastic. Finally got the LP back, so to speak!! I don't have the original one I had. Moving to smaller and less spacious homes resulted in my having to do without a lot of material collected in my youth.

    1. Saw you mention this on "you know who's" site: that Obert-Thorn transfer seemed rather good (surprisingly so: and certainly couldn't achieve that degree of 'quiet' from my new original HMV set -it almost sounded like the source was from vinyl's).

Was quite dubious about adding some additional treble to the above (if you would like the previous 'version' I can make it available) - but a re-cut side 2 on my additional, circa 1964, pressing was definitely superior.

Am considering uploading a 24/96 of Campoli's LP; again, my 1969 ACL re-cut is very superior to the original LXT from 1955..
