Benno Moiseiwitsch plays... Rachmaninov. Piano Concertos 1 & 2 / Paganini Rhapsody - HMV 1937/1938/1948

Sergei Rachmaninov:
Piano Concerto No.1 in F sharp minor, op.1
The Philharmonia Orchestra  conducted by  Sir Malcolm Sargent          Rec: 23 December 1948  (HMV C.3932-34 / 2EA.13511-16)
Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor, op.18
London Philharmonic Orchestra  conducted by  Walter Goehr              Rec: 24 November / 13 December 1937  (HMV C.2973-76 / 2EA.5903-5910)
Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, op.43
London Philharmonic Orchestra  conducted by  Basil Cameron             Rec: 5 December 1938  (HMV C.3062-64 / 2EA.7178-83)
Benno Moiseiwitsch, piano      Recorded: EMI Studio 1, Abbey Road.     3 files zip FLAC  Mega Download
My 2013 78 Transfer of "Paganini Rhapsody"  FLAC  Mega Download       HMV  C.3062-4    Mint 1947 pressings.  Matrices: 2EA.7178-7183 (IIA/I//I/I/II/I)
APR 7004  (2LP's 1987)   Transferred by Bryan Crimp from shellacs + EMI's previous tape copy transfer of PC1: the 78 matrices then destroyed..
Bryan Crimp's transfer of PC1 retains a 'tape editing flaw' in mvt.3 (which I've removed - amongst much editing..) but, Strangely,  Mr Pristine's 'new release'  has the same fault (subdued, but still audible despite all the 'processing': which can make Moiseiwitsch sound like he's playing on a Pub Piano in the famed acoustics of the XR ConvoluteGebouw..).
Over on The Music Parlour   BBC 'live' - Delius PC - Rachmaninov PC2 - Beethoven PC5, etc      1955 EMI Rachmaninov PC2 + Paganini Rhapsody, etc

  1. Wonderful in every way. Looking forward to the Szell-Schnabel Brahms PC 1 to compare it to the Naxos Historical CD issue which I have on my wishlist.

    1. Thanks...I've re-uploaded, for your interest, my 2014 '78' transfer of Moiseiwitsch's 1938 "Paganini Rhapsody" on 'Collectors Corner' blog - sounds better, IMO...direct link is above.

    2. Has anyone mentioned that the above link is to the 1955 recordings of the Paganini Rhapsody, Concerto No 2 and the Moments Musicaux. Is there still a link to the 1930's Rachmaninoff Concertos available?

  3. Guess this is no longer popular/wanted: an odd editing glitch; the zip is on the server: - now corrected link..

    1. Thank you for this and all of your amazing uploads. It revives my old LP collection. Do you have a You Tube channel to which I can subscribe?

    2. Nice that you mentioned it (must have happened some time back:- the file names are similar).
Never used YouTube - some material gets copied (Salome) - but it would only make sense if I uploaded there in order to incentivise people to 'buy' a higher quality via the Blogs - but many/most are perfectly happy with YouTube-quality!
