  2. If Anthony Griffiths' transfers of the Beecham/Delius weren't on CD I would have uploaded 'Volume One' (World Records: 5LP).

  3. Both Violin and Piano Concerto recordings issued by Testament in 1992 uses the same master tape that was used for this World Records series, the only change was that the tape was filtered by Cedar units, I noticed checking the side joining (d)efects that were perfect for 1975 but to rude for 1992.

    1. I recently got from eBay (mint/cheap) the second volume of Delius (6LP) which contains the Betty Humby/Pougnet versions (volume one sold for 99pence!!) but didn't know these had been issued from the Anthony Griffiths transfers on Testament and I'd avoided uploading Volume One, as the CD's were on The Beecham Trust..so that didn't seem fair..

Can't now remember what editing I did 2 years ago (ie: also repairing bad edits/side joins) which I frequently 'had' to do with these 78 transfers.

I was recently thinking of uploading files sent to me in 2011 of the now OOP Bantock/Dutton CD of ancient recordings - but the 'Cederized' sound was a joke compared to my transfer of the 10" Paxton LP here, containing some similar-vintage Paxton recordings: Dutton's sound had been flattened by an aural steamroller...totally boring to listen-to..

    1. As I've never listened to the Pougnet (mentioned above) version of the Violin Concerto I might do a transfer if the performance is 'exceptional' - however, the Humby-Beecham Piano Concerto I recall, from years back, as being exceptionally awful; so will check some other post-war Beecham/RPO material...not heard previously, either

    2. Would be very interesting, as i'm still 'stuck' - and imagine will yet be for a while - on listening to these slightly less famous English composers/pieces that i know only faintly, yet whose music is often, like these concertos, distinct & attractive. (i guess Delius isn't that unknown, but he's not part of the 'standard repertoire', either.)

    4. Hah! i have to admit Hindemith went over my head, but found some Stravinsky pieces from there that haven't yet got to.
